The Rotary Club of New Milton (registered charity no. 1002845) was formed in 1939 and has both men and women as members; it meets 3 Monday evenings a month, at 6.00 for 6.15 at South Lawn Hotel, Milford on Sea. The meeting consists of a meal, followed by either by a guest speaker or Club Committee Meetings. The speakers talk on a variety of subjects: for example, talks have included: local issues, charities supported by the Club, local history, member’s interests and work-related topics.
Rotary is a global network of volunteers, leaders dedicating their time and talents to tackle the world’s most pressing humanitarian challenges.
Globally, Rotary has 1.2 million members in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Its work impacts on the lives of people both at local and international level from helping families in need in their own communities to working towards eradicating disease and poverty.
Members contribute their time, energy and passion towards sustainable long term projects in local communities across the globe. Projects focusing on important issues like peace and conflict resolution, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy and economic and community development.
We also have fun, fellowship plays a very important part for all Rotarians. The club is open to men, women and couples, the New Milton Club has 5 Women (one of whom is currently President), and one couple. We support many local charities and good causes, have involvement with the local schools, and run a number of key fundraising events in the Town. We own a holiday property at Hoburne Naish which we make available to other organisations to provide a holiday base for deserving families.
As you can imagine this all takes a great deal of organisation and effort, and to maintain our effectiveness we are always looking for new members. If you would like to know more, and perhaps join us on our Club Night, we will be pleased to hear from you.
